In our inaugural event we placed a respectable 9th overall out of 39 boats, and 2nd overall in the Corinthian sub-division of 12 boats. The breeze was up all week and we couldn't have been happier with our first event's results!

Summary: Breeze on!!! Over the course of CRW 2013 we saw breeze anywhere from 10-35 knots and tons (55) of J70s on the line, causing lots of excitement (and a little carnage). Day 1 was highlighted by Blake's medevac during race 3 to the hospital for laceration to his shin (caused by another fouling boat). Fortunately he wrapped it up on Day 2 and the team only suffered missing a couple of redress-granted races from Day 1. Key Learnings: Getting off the starting line clean, in a lane, and sticking to a side was clearly the winning combination. Unfortunately we had an off week on the starting line, leaving us battling back in jet wash most races. Remedy here was all about timing and position off the line before 'GO'. In most cases Blake had us setting up a little too late (inside a minute at 50+ meters), and we found in the higher breeze & bigger fleet it's really necessary to setup closer to 1:15 at approximately 40 meters. Downwind, we found it critical to think 2-3 steps ahead in anticipating both downwind and upwind traffic, in effort to avoid close crosses in the planing conditions. Finish: When all was said & done we placed a respectable, but not quite as well as intended, 22nd Overall/6th Corinthian.
